Donation
to Local Food Pantry Helps Families in Need
Tim
Hirsch and Steve Quinn, Harris Foundation board members, recently
presented a check for $5,000 to the Du Quoin Food Pantry. The
Foundation has been supporting the Food Pantry for several years
through monthy donations of food, and this gift was intended
as a boost to the Food Pantry's overall community outreach program.
The
Du Quoin Food Pantry helped over 9,500 people get the food and
supplies they needed last year, and the Harris Foundation is
proud to partner with them to feed the hungry.
Harris
Foundation Completes Trip to Kenya, Africa
HFCF
board members Kurt Harris and Jason Hill lead a missions exploration
group to Kenya in late May. The team spent most of their time
at the Challenge Farm in Kitale, Kenya working with the orphans
there. In addition to ministering to the orphans and staff at
the Challenge Farm, the team also evaluated the process of being
in Kenya in hopes of taking other teams there in the future.
The Foundation is looking to expand its role helping children
in Africa through a partnership with the Challenge Farm.

Kurt
Harris Speaks at Regional FCA Banquet
The
Harris Foundation, and the Harris family, have been supporters
of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for many years. Attending
the annual Southern Illinois FCA "Home Team" Banquet
is a regular part of the Foundation calendar, and this year,
the FCA asked Kurt to address the annual banquet. Kurt spoke
about need to support the FCA through financial donations to
ensure that this vital ministry can continue its work in our
local public schools. Kurt was able to draw on his personal
commitment to support the work of the FCA to challenge the audience
to start, continue, or increase their support.

Harris
Foundation Donates $10,000 for Improvements to Local Public
Pool
The
ministry of the Harris Foundation to local children will be
secured for many years to come through a donation of $10,000
to the Du Quoin Public Swimming Pool. This pool is used my dozens
of local children who have no other options for safe recreation
during the summer months. The money donated will be used to
renovate the facilities bathrooms and showers, and to purchase
a lift to help handicapped children to get in and out of the
pool. The donation is part of the Foundation's ongoing commitment
to invest in local projects as it continues to work around the
world.
